‘Palais’ Music Video and Tour

Posted by Malcura Category: Category 1

Capping off a breakthrough year for ourselves, we have just announced a stack of live shows to coincide with our ambitious new video release, filmed at the iconic Palais Theatre.

Since launching our self-titled debut album to a packed crowd on the Federation Square stage earlier this year, we have been hard at work touring regionally in support of the album, and generating word-of-mouth buzz as buskers in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

With the Australian summer fast approaching, we are proud to announce the “Palais Tour”, a run of live dates commencing in far-north Queensland, that will serve to promote the release of a new music video for their latest single, “Palais”.

Filmed inside St. Kilda’s Palais Theatre, the video is a creative collaboration with Melbourne filmmakers Miki Simankevicius, Darren Vukosinovic and Cameron Zayec; capturing the grandeur and majesty of the Palais Theatre, combined with the energy and intensity of our live performance. The song “Palais”, which features on Malcura (2016), was inspired by our spontaneous guest appearance on the Palais stage alongside Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela during their 2015 Australian tour.

In a tongue-in-cheek subplot, the video clip offers an alternative retelling of the Rodrigo y Gabriela show, with Simon assuming the role of a theatre usher that dreams of taking the stage with his bandmates.

We first play Wallaby Creek Festival in Cairns from September 30th, before hitting the road for the “Palais Tour” (dates below), with a video launch scheduled at the Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne on November 13th.
